Book Club News

As Norah’s Children and Michael are becoming increasingly popular with Book Clubs we have decided to add this page to the web site. Here, club members may share comments or ask questions about the novels or the author.

Dates and times of Book Club discussions of either book may also be posted here.

A list of discussion questions for each book is available by contacting us at ann@annofarrell.net.

Warning: these questions may reveal important details about the stories and we strongly recommend that your group finish reading the book first.

Palm Harbor Library, 2330 Nebraska Ave., FL 34683 has selected Norah’s Children to be part of a new project called Book Clubs To Go. The collection consists of rolling totes that hold ten books of the same title. The books, with totes, may be checked out by a patron who can then offer a book club at a time and location convenient for club members. The kits will circulate for 56 days.

Readers' Circle II, East Lake, FL
Hi Ann,
Our April 24 meeting of Readers' Circle II was well attended because the members had enjoyed reading the book and wanted to discuss it with you. The women, avid readers all, discussed a variety of topics, among them the villain/victim notions, the unity of family love, the format, the characters, and the ending.  They wanted to ask you questions regarding your favorite character, when you knew that you'd write about Michael separately, and how you decided to end the story in the way you did.  Many of the women said they'll read MICHAEL; I'm glad it is already on my book club list, although I'd have read it even if it wasn't.

Hi Ann,
We truly enjoyed each of your books, NORAH"S CHILDREN and MICHAEL.  We felt the presence of the surroundings; felt the presence of the characters and became a part of each story.  Both books are well-written, and we admired the author's warm, atmospheric descriptions.   Thank you for sharing your talent.    ...T.B. Crescent Oaks Book Review Club
Who could forget the first sentence of Norah’s Children…”Dear God…let this be over soon.” Norah’s Children are Everywoman’s. In this bittersweet family saga Ann O’Farrell’s descriptions echo the heartache that every mother must feel. Reading the first few paragraphs, our book club was hooked. The sequel – Michael – is already scheduled for an exciting discussion.

Loda Library Book Club

The story of Norah's Children is compassionate and compelling. This book is so well-written it pulled me into the story of each child.  I anxiously turned each page to read what would happen next.  Now, I have to know the story about Michael.
